Otis Redding!!!!!
[em]rasp[/em] I want to dedicate this video, first of all to my best friend. Leslie McClain, is the adopted daughter of Louise Redding-McClain. Louise just happens to be the sister of otis redding. I do not think that my friend has ever seen this video, so I will show it to her tomorrow. And for all the Mylot fans who have not heard this song in a long time and/or seen the video, her you go. Was it your favorite at one time? Even though it was before my time, it use to be mine. What's up Polly, Let's get to the bay, okay?[em]rasp[/em] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzrXc68gNjQ
do you listen to otis redding?

Ottis Redding
I was listening to the radio today and Ottis Redding - Dock of the Bay was playing, one of my all time favourite tracks, but what I didnt realise, until the DJ said so, was that Ottis only recorded that track 3 days before his death!Whats your favourite track?
Songs that tell Stories
Driving around today I heard "Three Wooden Crosses" by Randy Travis on the radio. I was just browsing through stations and I started to listen. I had heard it before, and it still touched me. But it told a story. A lot of songs don't tell much of a story. I'm not talking about shootings, or love scenes unfolding through verse, I'm talking about real stories. So what is your favorite 'story' song(s)? I also like "Travelin' Soldier", most recently sung by the Dixie Chicks, and also (don't laugh) "Harper Valley PTA" by Margie Singleton, even if it is an older song.: ) If any of you have heard that. What about you? Your favorites?
He Has A Wonderful Family
Everyone knows the song "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay," right? Otis Redding is legendary. Well, almost two years ago I met his adopted niece. Now he had already passed before she was even born. She and I are close friends and I have learned a lot about his family through her.His sister Louise is my friends adopted mother. She is a librarian and such a sweet woman. It takes a special person to adopt a child and raise it as if it is your own. My friend is 40 years old now. She has never known any of her real famliy, but her adopted family has been wonderful. Then there is Debra Redding, she is raising my friends son, who is now eighteen. Because of her abandonment by her natural family, she had a baby early so she could have a blood relation. Debra has raised him to be a fine boy. Debra is also a department of family services social worker. I admired people who work in a field that helps people. Then, there is his blood niece who is my friends favorite cousin. Her mom is Christine, she is the baby sister. Well, now this child Penelope had some issues with abuse while growing up. I am not writing this to air any dirty laundry, so I wont elaborate. I will just say that she...
Music From Your Teen Years
[em]whistle[/em] Hi everyone:)Each "era" or generation seems to have it's own most popular groups, sounds, and songs. What was some of the most popular music/songs, etc. from your teenage years? Do you still enjoy listening to some of now?I was a teen in the 60s...so rock and roll was coming into its own...The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Motown groups, Elvis, Three Dog Night, The Everly Brothers, The Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix and Janice Joplin, Otis Redding, The Temptations....these are just a few of the groups/people that were popular when I was growing up.So share with us some of your "teen years" music.Thank you.Karen
YA!! I am a music lover!!!Are you?I mean the REAL stuff...................
I especially love classic rock and roll. I am talking old school. Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Ozzy Osbourne. Do any of you remember the Ozzyfests and are any of you old enough to remember what rock was like back in the mid 60's until the mid 90's? Past that it has been alittle hazy for me (Purple Haze). I am listening to Low Rider by War. There is a summer band to listen to. For this discussion can you oldsters out there tell me about just one song that you may hear that takes you back to better times or to the no care times of your youth. For me I like Otis Redding and his Setting On The Dock Of The Bay. Bring those grand old summers back to me. That and a real hard head banger like Mississippi Queen done by Ozzy or Jim Dandy by Black Oak Arkansas. I go back to the BOA concerts I always made sure I got to and the unmentionable experiences I had back in the 60's. I love to listen to Janis and Jimi and who can listen to better than a Doors CD on a warm summer night? Now there's living!!!! Oh,here comes ZZtop and I Thank YOU!!!! I used to wait until my mom went to the store or left for work and then I cranked up the radio or stereo(ya,that was what they were called...
Heavenly Music
Whenever we talk about or lose another vocal artist whgo had an impact on the times they lived in and died too soon, my boyfriend and I always put it in context of God building the ultimate and endless concert with the greatest artists to have lived. Michael Jackson is now among the best of the best and I bet you he's sitting either at a piano composing with Billie Holiday, Otis Redding, and Nat King Cole, Not to exclude the other KIng Elvis who's bopping around and harmonizing with Michae3l and company. If there is a heaven then Michael may be there, and he may be living a dream that he couldn't have ever fulfilled here a duet with Elvis Jimmy, Janis, Jim Morrisson, Jim Croche, and all the other late greats are finally able to harmonize with one another. I for one do not hope that Michael Jackson is resting in peace. I hope that he is at peace I doubt however that he is resting because when he was alive here with us he never rested. I hope he is composing up a storm. Like my boyfriend says God is building "The Band", I hope the band has studied up on the song "We are the world." because Michael will be extra painstaking in practicing for his performance for God and all...
