Discussions| Does Notorious accurately portrait the Notorious BIG? | | I have yet to see the movie, but I feel like I don't want it to change my perception of Biggie Smalls. I feel like if I see it, I'm going to think of my youth spent listening to hiphop and feel nostalgic. There's nothing wrong with that, I guess, but I'm worried that the movie will somehow change my memories of that era. When Biggie died, the world lost a great hiphop talent. There's a reason why rappers still give him shoutouts, even today. | |

| | Who else can't wait for the Notorious B.I.G. movie to drop in 2009? | | I can't believe it after all this time, we finally have the finished product. I am born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and have been a fan of Biggie since early nineties when he was on the corner of Nostrand and Gates trying to make it. This movie is supposed to portray not only his rap career but his relationships with Faith Evans, Charlie Baltimore and Lil Kim. How many of the real hip-hop fans are going to support this movie and why? | |
| | | Notorious B.I.G. Family Sues L.A. Again | | The family of slain rapper Notorious B.I.G. has filed a second wrongful-death lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles, alleging that rogue police officers killed him 10 years ago. The suit, filed Tuesday, seeks unspecified damages on behalf of the widow, mother and two children of the rapper.B.I.G., whose given name was Christopher Wallace, was 24 when he was gunned down March 9, 1997, while leaving a party at a Los Angeles museum. In addition to the city, the suit names former Los Angeles police officer Rafael Perez and his ex-partner, Nino Durden. The suit contends that Perez, Durden and other police agents conspired to murder Wallace and that the police department covered up their involvement. The suit also alleges that at the time, Perez was working for Death Row Records, the rap label owned by Marion "Suge" Knight, who has denied any involvement in the killing.Perez and Durden were at the heart of an LAPD scandal involving abuses by members of a Rampart Division anti-gang squad. They have never been charged in connection with the Wallace killing. Perez, who now goes by the name Ray Lopez, has denied any involvement. The Los Angeles Police... | |

| | | TuPac or Notorious B.I.G? | | Both were great on creating music for their time, both are dead. But who was the best? Personally I'll wager over on TuPac's side because all Biggie's songs was just about having intercourse. Whilst TuPac could have some deep textures in his songs. | |
| | More money more problems | | I was listening to Notorious BIG song last night titled mo money and I cant help but ask myself if this song is not really right about human circumstances, I have observed over time the lives of celebrities the world over, it seems that the more money they made the more troubles they get into, check out the list Diddy, DMX, 50cents, Mike Tyson, Britney Spears, Late Michael Jackson etc, the list seems to go on and on,
These guys never seems to escape some form of controversy or the other, could it be that the money you make the more trouble you get into?

| | So what are you listening to right now? | | always been a big music fan. never really cared for genres, always listened to stuff that sounded good to my ears. i have my preferences but i always keep an ear out for some of the newer stuff that's coming out. that's doesn't mean though that i don't listen to the classics. right now between listening to sting's 'ten summoner's tales' album (absolutely love 'fields of gold and 'it's probably me') and a lot of random mash-ups from metallica vs bryan adams to notorious big vs miley cyrus, i'm trying to broaden my musical tastes. what better way to do that than get what my fellow mylotters are listening to right now.chime in and it would definitely help if you have a short write up why you like the song/album that you are listening to right now plus a link.cheers!!! | |
