Discussions
Amy Winehouse on same path as Janis Joplin.
This woman has talent that is fresh and different from most of the musicians out there. Unfortunately, she is on a path of self-destruction that most likely will result in her death at a young age. Similar to Joplin, Hendrix, Morrison and Cobain. And, I know there are many others that killed themselves by drinkin' and druggin'. Such God-given talent and they choose to spoil it with drugs. Are they so weak that they succomb to peer pressure? Are they so selfish that they don't care who it would hurt by their death's? I don't know why a person with such talent and success would do this to themselves? What do ya'll think?
janis joplin
What is your fsvorite janis song?I think piece of my heart is my favorite. What is your favorite song by janis?I only wish this lady had left the drugs alone maybe we would still have her with us.Any janis fans care to share?
Janis Joplin great or not???????????????????
i recently saw a show on tv about the greatest woman in rock music and the #1 woman was Janis Joplin, first of all i dont think she was a rock star, nor was she all that great, she was ok,but in reality she was a 3 hit wonder she only had like 3 songs that she was famous for and they were not all that, all she was,was a sloppy drunken slob as far as i'm concerned,so you tell me what was so great about her,her nick name the rag, suited her perfect, she looked like a rag,and a dirty one one at that[em]thumbdown[/em]to the rag
What is your favorite Janis Joplin song or performance?
My favorite is "Ball and Chain". I have the version that was taped at Monterey. She was breath taking.I heard that she wanted to move people like Billie Holiday. Believe me she moved me.
What is your favorite song by Janis Joplin?
Mine is Cry Baby.

How to be a Modern Day Darling
Do you ever have to look like Virgin Mary while secretly feeling like Courtney Cox? If you have any tips for us to do so, please if you would share them. We all know how difficult this can be at times, both in business, and in personal life.[em]angel[/em][em]devil[/em][em]rofl[/em]
And the beat goes on
Being born in the year 1965, you get to experience a lot of things in the last 40 years or so. The first man on the moon, the assasinations of Martin Luther King, Woodstock, etc. Even the emergence of Beatlemania. The only thing still around today is the music: Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Janis Joplin. Though they have passed on as people, their words and music will live on for a long time to come. That's is why the oldies are so important to me, it never goes out of style. Even radio stations of today are still playing them. People still remember most hits, and can even remember the lyrics verbatim. Simple things you can still pass on from generation to generation. Is there a particular oldies tune that still has your toes tapping. Is there a favorite band from that era which you may still have an lp floating around your house somewhere? Feel free to open your time capsule, and let the fun begin.
YA!! I am a music lover!!!Are you?I mean the REAL stuff...................
I especially love classic rock and roll. I am talking old school. Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Ozzy Osbourne. Do any of you remember the Ozzyfests and are any of you old enough to remember what rock was like back in the mid 60's until the mid 90's? Past that it has been alittle hazy for me (Purple Haze). I am listening to Low Rider by War. There is a summer band to listen to. For this discussion can you oldsters out there tell me about just one song that you may hear that takes you back to better times or to the no care times of your youth. For me I like Otis Redding and his Setting On The Dock Of The Bay. Bring those grand old summers back to me. That and a real hard head banger like Mississippi Queen done by Ozzy or Jim Dandy by Black Oak Arkansas. I go back to the BOA concerts I always made sure I got to and the unmentionable experiences I had back in the 60's. I love to listen to Janis and Jimi and who can listen to better than a Doors CD on a warm summer night? Now there's living!!!! Oh,here comes ZZtop and I Thank YOU!!!! I used to wait until my mom went to the store or left for work and then I cranked up the radio or stereo(ya,that was what they were called...
